Meet at Mavens’ Haven 10:00 A.M. Mountain Standard Time
Price: $300
Maximum 8 participants
Includes Friday and Saturday accommodations. You are welcome to stay Sunday night, as well.
Upon arrival at Mavens’ Haven you will be transported to the Cocoon Camp, which will have been set up and awaiting your presence. Lunch will be served upon our arrival at camp.
Each participant will have their own private campsite complete with sleeping bag, air mattress, bag liner and small camp pillow. You may wish to bring your own pillow. Your cocoon is a sleeping hammock which is screen enclosed, positioned beneath a rain fly and hung amid the trees. There is a small rug to step out onto and a camp chair. You will have a solar light to read by at night.
A camp kitchen, beneath a canopy, is set up for meals. There will be a social circle around the blazing fire ring after the evening meals for those who wish to visit, have a glass of wine or just enjoy the ambiance for the night. Others may wish to cozy up in their hammocks with a book.
We will begin harvesting after lunch Friday afternoon, bringing home foods which will be prepared in the kitchen upon our return. Wild game or salmon will be added to our foraged fare for a satisfying, balanced meal. Coffee and tea will be ready at 7:30; breakfast will be served an hour later. We leave camp around 10:00 for a day of foraging, enjoying a field lunch mid-day. With our foraged fare, Saturday’s dinner should be wild and robust!
Sleep in Sunday. Breakfast will be at 10:00. We will venture into the forest for another day of wilderness harvesting, again enjoying a light field lunch before returning to our cozy camp around 3:00 P.M. We will enjoy an early dinner.
Those that need to leave Sunday evening will be driven back to Mavens’ Haven arriving around 6:30 P.M. Participants who wish to stay over Sunday night are invited to do so, as the cocoon camp will not be packed away until Monday morning. A light breakfast will be served Sunday morning.
A compost toilet bathroom will be set up near camp. Solar showers will be available if the sun is out and shining, otherwise water will be heated for bathing. Towels and washcloths are provided. Bring at least two sets of warm clothes, dry socks, and an extra pair of shoes, plus personal toiletries.
