With Darcy Williamson
Duration: Two days, one night.
The cost of this two-day sustainable living course includes a one night stay at Mavens’ Haven plus delicious garden fresh meals. Join Darcy in her outdoor kitchen to learn water bath and pressure canning, pickling, jamming, and honey extraction. We’ll use harvests from Mavens’ Haven’s organic garden. Participants will go home with canning skills, recipes, an assortment of jars filled with jams, pickles, salsas and other goodies, plus the basics of backyard beekeeping.
EACH GUEST NEEDS TO BRING:
8 quart jars 12 pint jars 12 jelly jars
For canning and preserving. If you are traveling and prefer to purchase your jars locally, we will do that for you and have them available at Mavens’ Haven.
10:00 A.M. Arrival. ~ You will be taken to your assigned quarters to get settled in before lunch. Lunch will be at noon, so that we will be well nourished before we head off into the garden to harvest late summer produce for canning. The next few hours will be spent processing and canning our harvest.
5:00 P.M. ~ We will return to the garden to gather fresh produce for our evening meal. While guests relax, the meal will be prepared for you. Dinner will be around 6:30 P.M. Elk or Buffalo burgers will be grilled on the barbeque to supplement our garden fresh meal.
8:00 – bedtime. ~ Perhaps you will want to take a dip in the river? There are large towels located in your sleeping quarters for that pleasure. Or perhaps one would prefer a fast game of pickleball on our court?
