Jardalu ma Marghi with Cindy Greer Saturday 2 pm ~ dinner
Just thinking of the food of India makes my mouth water. I imagine whole spices releasing caramelized aromas as they sizzle in a blistering skillet or roasted to bring out their secondary flavors then ground to unleash their potency. I am excited to share the cooking method of Jardalu ma Marghi (Parsi-Style Chicken Curry with Apricots and Shoestring Potatoes), an entree of west India, which still bears the ancient influence of Persia. We’ll brew Chai, feast on Falooda, and prepare side dishes to accompany our Indian feast.
Alpaca Fiber Needle Felting with Brandy Henson Sunday 10 am ~ 1 pm
Using Brandy’s homegrown Alpaca fiber, design and create your own needle-felted case. It may be for eyeglasses, a tablet, phone, or something you imagine. Brandy will provide pre-felted alpaca fiber on top of which you will create the art by needle-felting your own design.
Zakuska with Darcy Williamson Sunday 2 pm ~ dinner
In Russia and other post-Soviet countries, Zakuska are often present at parties or receptions. Usually they are the first course already laid on the table when guests are called to the dining room. Iced vodka is often served with the appetizers. The word literally means something to bite after, to soften the alcohol effect on the taste receptors.
Don your favorite Russian shawl, frock, or apron and come join the Zakuska making party! Learn to make Syr Varenyky (cheese dumplings), Pelmeni (filled dumplings simmered in broth), Pirozhki (small filled pastries), Chyehsyok Yightseh (garlic eggs), Holubtsi (cabbage stuffed with ham and sauerkraut), Romahvahyah Bahba (small cakes steeped in rum syrup), and Bublyky (circled rolls). Iced vodka will be provided for those who wish to imbibe.
