For nearly 30 years From the Forest’s motto has been, “It’s Not What You Seek That Counts, It’s What You Find.” The botanical diversity of forests, meadows and sagebrush steppes never fails to offer surprises. One may be seeking Western Mugwort and return with a bag filled with Skullcap instead. A harvester may be hunting Morel mushrooms but come upon a stump offering buckets of Oyster mushrooms.

On Saturday, let us not enter the wild places this spring with expectations. Let us discover, instead. I will lead our small group on a day’s excursion to explore and ponder whatever is found. I will answer questions, tell my stories, and we, as a group, will decide if we want to harvest what had been found, or continue along our way. By day’s end we will return to Mavens’ Haven with the trove of found treasures we had decided to keep.

Sunday, let the fun begin! From what we have harvested, we will make tinctures, salves, shrubs, teas and/or pickled delicacies…. I will have supplies on hand to cover any or all!
